Marker-Assisted-Selection (MAS) is mainly important in situations, where the current accuracy of selection is low, e.g. traits with low heritability, limited, late-in-life, or afterslaughter recording. In veloand whizzo genetics schemes, the number of selection cycles per time period is minimized, which may increase rates of genetic gain dramatically. Genomic selection is used to obtain a high accuracy of selection of in-uturo calves or early embryos.
